Josh Hazlewood Likely to Miss Entire Ashes With Hamstring Injury: Reports

by K D Mishra

Australia fast bowler Josh Hazlewood may not play again in the Ashes series because of a hamstring injury. The injury is said to be worse than first thought, and he might miss all five Test matches.

Josh Hazlewood Injury Update: Star Fast Bowler Likely Out of Entire Ashes Series

Hazlewood got injured two weeks ago while playing a Sheffield Shield match against Victoria. He bowled only nine overs in the second innings, and Steve Smith, the New South Wales captain, sent him off the field. At first, doctors said the injury was not very serious, but later he was ruled out of the Perth Test.

Cricket reporter Peter Lalor said he has heard that Hazlewood may not return for the whole series.

“If the news I’m hearing is true, we may not see Hazlewood again in this Ashes,” Lalor said on 7 Cricket.

Missing him is a big setback for Australia, especially because Pat Cummins was also out with a back injury in the first Test. If he misses the rest of the Ashes, this will be the second summer in a row he has missed because of injuries.

Last year, he missed most of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy due to a calf injury, and in the 2021-22 Ashes, he played only one match. There is some good news for Australia: Pat Cummins is almost fit and has been training strongly. He is expected to play in the second Test at the Gabba on December 4.
