Jasprit Bumrah Injury Update: Pacer Set to Reach NCA by January 19, Still in Contention for Champions Trophy

There’s finally some positive news about Jasprit Bumrah’s injury. With the ICC Champions Trophy scheduled to commence from February 19 and 8 team tournament, there have been concerns about his fitness. The fast bowler is recovering from a back injury and is expected to be fit for the 8 team tournament starting on February 19.
Jasprit Bumrah’s back injury at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) seems quite serious. But it has been found that the swelling in his back muscle made the diagnosis of the injury difficult. After the swelling comes down, a new scan will be recommended and the National Cricket Academy (NCA) will assess his condition and develop a rehabilitation program.
Bumrah is expected to arrive at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru towards the end of the weekend (January 19). The BCCI will keep a close watch on his recovery after that.
“Bumrah is progressing well, and he is expected to reach the National Cricket Academy (NCA) this weekend in Bengaluru for more medical attention,” a source told CricBlogger.
Bumrah Dismisses Reports of Bed Rest and Focuses on Recovery
The situation at the SCG does not seem so bad after all though, Bumrah left the field but he seemed to be in good humour so it may be that the injury wasn't that bad. He has just dismissed reports that BCCI advised him to stay in bed for this whole week.
Bumrah is more disappointed about the chance to play and help India draw 2-2 in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy than by the injury. He has done a lot of work for India to win T20 World Cup 2024, and now he is willing to do that for the team to win another ICC title.
“Bumrah is just fine and getting better with time. He is very eager to play the Champions Trophy and he could be included in the team on a probational basis if BCCI’s medical team clears him,” a source revealed.
