Jasprit Bumrah Injury Update: Champions Trophy Availability to Be Confirmed on Saturday – Report
The moment is almost here for the Jasprit Bumrah Injury Update. Bumrah has finished his scans and tests at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. The Times of India says we should hear his results in about 24 hours. After that, the BCCI will decide if he can play in the ICC Champions Trophy.
Right before the first one-day match, Indian captain Rohit Sharma mentioned that even he isn’t sure how bad Bumrah’s injury is. He was waiting on the test results after Bumrah had complained about back spasms during the tour in Australia. Now, reports say that Bumrah’s scans will be checked by Dr. Rowan Schouten from New Zealand along with the BCCI’s medical team.
Jasprit Bumrah Injury: Uncertainty Grows Ahead of ICC Champions Trophy
The details about Bumrah’s injury are still a bit of a mystery. At first, we heard different things some said he needed bed rest, while others thought he might miss the group stage of the ICC Champions Trophy. No one really knows for sure yet. The only clear update from the BCCI is that Bumrah has been replaced by Varun Chakaravarthy in the India vs England ODI squad. In the first ODI, Harshit Rana, who was filling in for Bumrah, had an impressive debut by taking three wickets, and India won the match comfortably.
As you know, Bumrah got injured after bowling too many overs at the Border Gavaskar Trophy. His amazing performance on that tour helped India avoid a big loss, but it's taken a toll on his body, and less likely that he will be fit for the ICC Champions Trophy. With the deadline to change squads on February 11 and less than three days left for the BCCI to decide if his injury is serious and he needs more rest, he shouldn't rush back. If Bumrah chooses to sit out, Harshit Rana or Varun Chakravarthy may step in as his replacement.
