Jasprit Bumrah Creates History with Five-Wicket Haul in Leeds Test

Jasprit Bumrah added another feather to his cap with a fantastic five-wicket haul in the first innings of the first Test against England in Leeds. The star Indian fast bowler, who was in top form during the Australia tour, continued his great run in Test cricket. With his sharp and fiery bowling, Bumrah once again proved why he’s one of the best in the game.

The Indian bowler showed great skill as he made the ball swing and seam, causing problems for the English batters even on the flat Leeds pitch. He took three important wickets on the second day and came back on the third day to clean up the tail in the afternoon session.

Jasprit Bumrah struck just before the tea break, removing Chris Woakes and Josh Tongue to give India a narrow six-run lead. In the process, Bumrah not only wrapped up the England innings but also grabbed a five-wicket haul, adding a few more records to his name.

Bumrah Sets Records in England and SENA Countries

Bumrah has now taken the most five-wicket hauls by an Indian bowler in England. With his third five-for in the country, he moved ahead of nine other Indian bowlers who each had two five-wicket hauls there. The list featured Lala Amarnath, Kapil Dev, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Ishant Sharma, among others. 

Jasprit Bumrah has now become the Indian bowler with the most five-wicket hauls in England. He picked up his third five-for in the country, going past nine other Indian bowlers who each had taken two five-wicket hauls there.

He has now gone past former Pakistan legend Wasim Akram to become the Asian bowler with the most wickets in SENA countries. Coming into the Test match, he had 145 wickets across South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia. After picking up two more on Day 2, his tally has reached 150.
