It Was My Fault: Sam Konstas Admits About Provoking Jasprit Bumrah in the 5th Test Against India

by UMMADI JAYA

Sam Konstas, the batter from Australia, finally opened up about what happened in Sydney during the first day of the fifth test. Konstas upset Jasprit Bumrah a lot. The time is 15 minutes left in the day to stumps. At that time, Konstas and Usman Khawaja were currently facing Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj at the SCG.

In the middle of that intense situation, Khawaja tried to waste time by moving aside and Bumrah was bothered but then, Konstas, who was at the other end of the pitch, had a strong disagreement with the Indian bowler. Everything became difficult to control quickly, and the umpire had to join in to break those two up.

Bumrah became extremely upset and showed it by bowling and he took Khawaja wicket. The Indian team got very excited, cheering all over. Then Bumrah started to go towards Konstas but thought better of it and stopped himself, deciding not to make things bad.

Sam Konstas on Bumrah incident, "I was trying to waste a little bit of time there so they didn't get another over but Bumrah had the last laugh, he is world class, took 32 wickets in the series, If that happened again, maybe I wouldn't have said anything".

I'm not sure if they'll pick me for the two games against Sri Lanka, Konstas mentioned, We will wait and see, we have to be patient to find out. We will know in the next few days. But, adapting to different conditions might show a new side of me.

"Virat is adored by my entire family," says Sam Konstas, sharing how the 'lovely person' Kohli reacted after the shoulder-barge incident at the MCG

Konstas recently shared the details of his conversation with Virat Kohli following their heated exchange at the MCG. He revealed that he told Kohli how much he looks up to him, to which the former Indian captain responded with great humility. Konstas described Kohli as “down to earth” and mentioned that Kohli even wished him good luck for the upcoming Sri Lanka tour.

Sam Konstas said "When I did verse him, I was like, 'wow, Virat Kohli is batting. He just had that presence about him, all the Indian crowd getting amongst it. Chanting his name. It was quite surreal - huge honour playing against him".

“He was really humble and such a nice person. He just wished me all the best. I’ve looked up to him for as long as I can remember, and he’s truly a legend of the game. He was incredibly kind, telling me he hopes I do well if I’m selected for Sri Lanka. My whole family absolutely loves Virat.”
