The Irani Cup 2025 will begin on October 1. Ranji Trophy winners Vidarbha (VID) will face the Rest of India (ROI) at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Jamtha, Nagpur.

This one-off five-day match is expected to be an exciting battle between two strong teams. Under the leadership of Akshay Wadkar, Vidarbha emerged triumphant in the premier domestic season. They ended as table-toppers of Group B with six wins in seven matches before defeating the likes of Tamil Nadu, Mumbai, and Kerala in the quarter-final, semi-final and final, respectively. Yash Rathod (960 runs in 18 innings) and Harsh Dubey (69 wickets in 19 innings) emerged as the leading run-getter and wicket-taker, respectively.

The Rest of India team will be led by Rajat Patidar, who recently guided Central Zone to the Duleep Trophy title. He was the star with the bat, scoring two centuries and two half-centuries in just five innings. Ruturaj Gaikwad has been named his deputy. The squad also includes players like Ishan Kishan, Khaleel Ahmed, and Akash Deep, making it a strong side on paper.
