The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have struggled a bit over the last few seasons. Once known for its stability and the calm leadership of MS Dhoni, CSK is now faced with the task of reshaping a solid team that can win again, both now and in the future.
All-rounders have been integral in the success story of CSK. With the retention deadline on November 15, CSK will need to come up with some difficult decisions regarding who to keep and who to move on from. Here’s a look at the all-rounders CSK should retain ahead of the IPL 2026 auction.
Sam Curran
The English superstar is one of the most useful T20 players. In IPL 2025, Curran played five games, scoring a fifty and taking one wicket. While those may not be the best numbers, Curran provides balance with the bat and ball. If given a proper run, he can easily swing a match on his own. Curran’s all-around capability, attitude, and energy is a valuable asset for any team and well worth keeping in front of Shivam Dube, who doesn’t regularly bowl.

Ravindra Jadeja
While there is speculation about the trade with RR in exchange for Sanju Samson/Jadeja that may be confirmed, I still think it is logical for Chennai to still retain their Mr. Dependable. He has scored 2354 runs with 152 wickets for the franchise in 200 matches.

Ramakrishna Ghosh
This retention is slightly out-of-box, as he isn’t very capable player in the IPL circles, but can be a utility player. I hear he actually came up with a couple of 30s in the Ranji Trophy, and bowls fairly well. The T20 record isn't anything to get too excited about, though.
