IPL 2026 Schedule Likely to Be Announced After T20 World Cup Semifinals
A new IPL season is about to begin in a few weeks, but fans are yet to receive the complete schedule of the matches. The BCCI is yet to announce the date of the matches. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia mentioned that the complete schedule of the matches is to be announced in the next two to three days. He mentioned that the board is yet to receive more clarity on the upcoming state elections.
This is the reason the announcement of the complete schedule of the matches is yet to happen, as the date of the elections in a few of the states is yet to be confirmed. However, fans do not have to worry, as the BCCI is yet to announce the complete schedule of the IPL 2026 matches, which is likely to happen after the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup.
secretary Devajit Saikia that,
“Please wait for two to three days for the IPL schedule. We will release it as soon as possible. We know that it is getting late because elections are being held in three or four states such as Assam, Bengal and Tamil Nadu. We are waiting for the announcement from the election authorities. We have to take a call in a day or two. After that, we will inform you how we are going forward with the IPL.”
Elections are scheduled from March to May in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and Assam. This will impact some teams for IPL 2026 Home venue matches. Rajasthan also has a few matches scheduled in Guwahati. During the election season, the police are occupied with election duties. It is difficult to ensure security if a match is scheduled on the same day as the election. It is possible the matches may be shifted to another city.
The cricket board does not want this situation. There is also some uncertainty about one of the teams playing at home. It is possible the matches may be shifted to another city.
