IPL 2026: CSK Replace Injured Khaleel Ahmed, RCB Bring in Richard GleesonInjuries and mid-season replacements have once again become a major talking point in IPL 2026, with nearly 20 to 25 players reportedly suffering injuries so far. The constant setbacks have significantly impacted several franchises, forcing them to reshuffle combinations at a crucial stage of the tournament. Among the latest casualties are Khaleel Ahmed of Chennai Super Kings and Nuwan Thushara of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, both of whom have now been ruled out.

Khaleel Ahmed suffered a right quadriceps injury, ending his campaign prematurely. To fill the void, CSK signed left-arm pacer Kuldip Yadav for ₹30 lakh. The 29-year-old previously represented Rajasthan Royals in the IPL and has picked up two wickets in three appearances. Meanwhile, RCB moved swiftly to rope in experienced English pacer Richard Gleeson as a replacement for Nuwan Thushara for ₹1.6 crore.

Gleeson arrives with strong recent form, having featured in PSL 2026, where he claimed 12 wickets in nine matches. Despite his impressive numbers, it remains uncertain whether RCB will immediately include him in the playing XI. Their overseas fast-bowling department already looks settled, with Josh Hazlewood and Jacob Duffy performing consistently this season.

The timing of these changes is crucial, as IPL 2026 has already entered the business end of the competition with the playoffs approaching rapidly. Teams are under pressure to maintain momentum while also managing squad fitness, making every replacement decision extremely important. Franchises now face the challenge of integrating new players quickly into high-pressure situations.

Rachin Ravindra Returns Home Ahead of England Test Series

In another significant development, Rachin Ravindra has reportedly flown back home to begin preparations for New Zealand’s upcoming Test series against England, which starts on June 4. According to Cricbuzz, the Kolkata Knight Riders all-rounder leaves without playing a single match this season, despite being bought for ₹2 crore at the IPL 2026 auction.

KKR are yet to decide whether they will name a replacement for Ravindra. Their playoff hopes are hanging by a thread after a disappointing campaign that has seen them win only four of their 11 matches. Currently sitting eighth on the points table, the franchise may opt against bringing in a replacement given their slim chances of qualifying for the knockout stage.
