IPL 2026: Chennai Super Kings Replace Injured Jamie Overton With Dian Forrester

by K D Mishra

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have suffered a major setback as Jamie Overton has officially been ruled out of IPL 2026. Earlier on Wednesday, the franchise confirmed that the England all-rounder returned to the United Kingdom after suffering a thigh injury during the ongoing season.

This is a huge blow for CSK, who are still fighting for a place in the IPL 2026 playoffs. The five-time champions are currently placed fifth on the points table with 12 points from 11 matches and still have three important games left in the league stage.

Overton has been one of CSK’s best performers this season. The England all-rounder played a key role with both bat and ball and became one of the most valuable players in the squad. His absence at this stage of the tournament will be a big challenge for Chennai.

Soon after confirming Overton’s exit, CSK also announced his replacement for the remainder of the season. The franchise signed South African youngster Dian Forrester as his replacement.

The 25-year-old all-rounder has joined CSK for ₹75 lakh. Forrester recently made his international debut against New Zealand in March and impressed with his performances. He scored 83 runs in five innings at an average of 27.67 and showed good potential during the series.

CSK fans will now hope that Dian Forrester can make an impact quickly as the team enters the most important phase of IPL 2026.
