IPL 2026 Champions RCB May Not Hold Victory Parade in Bengaluru Amid Security Concerns

Following their back-to-back IPL title win, Royal Challengers Bengaluru have reportedly decided not to hold a victory parade in Bengaluru. On Sunday, captain Rajat Patidar led RCB to a five-wicket win over Gujarat Titans, helping the team join an elite group alongside Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings as teams to win two consecutive IPL titles. RCB ended their 18-year-wait to lay their hands on the IPL trophy last year, and what followed was a stampede at the centre of the state’s capital, which led to 11 people being killed and several injured.
According to Sportstar, an RCB source said it is highly unlikely that any victory celebrations or public events will be held in Bengaluru after the team's IPL 2026 title win. The main reason is the guidelines and restrictions issued earlier by the Bengaluru Police regarding large public gatherings. Just before the IPL 2026 final, the Bengaluru Police had issued a notification, stating that public screening of the final, celebrations by fans on the roads was prohibited. These guidelines were issued keeping in mind the tragedy that took place last year after RCB won their maiden IPL trophy.
“It is highly unlikely that there will be any activities in Bengaluru. There are certain guidelines in place, and we need to stick to them,” a RCB source told news agency PTI, as per Sportstar.
RCB Skip Bengaluru Victory Parade Amid Security Concerns and Restrictions
Apart from the Bengaluru Police guidelines, another major reason behind the decision is the upcoming swearing-in ceremony of CM-designate D. K. Shivakumar. He is scheduled to take oath as Chief Minister on June 3 at 4:05 PM. According to reports, the event is expected to attract a huge crowd from across Karnataka. Since the ceremony venue is located close to M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, managing two large gatherings on the same day could create significant security and traffic challenges.
Therefore, no victory parade is expected to be held by RCB. While RCB captain Rajat Patidar dedicated the team’s 2nd IPL trophy win to the 11 victims of the Bengaluru stampede, the incident still remains fresh in the minds of the team management.
“We dedicate this trophy to our fans, actually not fans, family members, who passed away in the tragedy last year,” Patidar said in the post-match press conference.
Cricket returned to M. Chinnaswamy Stadium for IPL 2026 after last year's tragic incident. Reports suggest that Royal Challengers Bengaluru were initially reluctant to host their entire home season at the venue due to safety concerns. As a result, the franchise shifted some of its home matches to Raipur, while the remaining games were played in Bengaluru.
