IPL 2026: BCCI Responds to Delay, Schedule to Be Announced on March 12
The Board of Control for Cricket in India has announced that the schedule for the Indian Premier League 2026 will be released on March 12. It was earlier reported that the schedule for the Indian Premier League 2026 would be announced on the day of the final match of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 before the closing ceremony. However, the schedule was not announced on the day of the match or the following day.
IPL 2026 Schedule to Be Announced on March 12 After Delay
BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said that,
“We plan to announce IPL 2026 schedule by March 12. For now, we are going to announce the IPL 2026 schedule for first 20 days,”
It has been said that information regarding the meeting of the captains before the tournament would be revealed the current week. It has been mentioned that the dates would be confirmed only after the assembly elections in Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Assam, Kerala, and Puducherry.

The first match is expected to be held at the M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru. It has been mentioned that the stadium would be used for the playoff match as well as the final match.
It would be the first big cricket match at the stadium since the stampede that resulted in the death of 11 people and injured several others in Bengaluru. It has been mentioned that the IPL 2026 would start on the 28th of March.
