IPL 2026 Auction: RCB Set to Make Big Move for Australia Star Matthew ShortThe upcoming IPL 2026 auction might see some lesser-known players getting big deals. In past mini-auctions, teams have spent huge amounts on surprising names. Fast bowlers, in particular, have often received high bids in these auctions.

The impending mini auction could see successful teams like Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), and Rajasthan Royals (RR) go for an overhaul after getting unsatisfactory results last season.

Matthew Short Could Strengthen RCB in IPL 2026 Auction

Meanwhile, teams who did well this year like Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will look to make a few key additions to bolster their sides.

Matthew Short’s flexibility makes him valuable for any team. He can open the innings, bat in the middle or lower order, and even bowl a few overs of off-spin when needed. Short has led teams successfully in franchise leagues and is currently a part of the Australia T20I team.

The 29-year-old went unsold at the IPL 2025 mega auction, having a base price of INR 75 lakh. He was among the leading run-getters in the Major League Cricket (MLC) this year. If Short can get accustomed to the setup of the franchise he joins, he could make vital contributions for them in the IPL.
