Sunrisers Hyderabad, one of the best-looking teams on paper after the IPL 2025 auction, disappointed its fans this year. The team could not live up to expectations and lost multiple matches during the first half of the season. Earlier, before the season, most cricket analysts had predicted Hyderabad to be one of the leading contenders for the playoffs, but their performance let everyone down. This article will discuss Sunrisers Hyderabad's performance in this season.

SRH: No. 6th In the Points Table

Sunrisers Hyderabad finished the season in sixth place in the points table after winning six games out of 14 played. The team ended up with a total of 13 points from six wins and one match with no result. SRH, which finished as the runner-up in the IPL 2024, became one of the most underperforming teams of the season. However, the team's performance could have been even worse if they hadn't won the last three matches, which significantly improvrd their position in the points table.

SRH in IPL 2025: Inconsistent Batting

For this season Hyderabad relied on its star-studded top order, which featured Indian batter and team's opener Abhishek Sharma and another top order batter Ishan Kishan, along with Australian striker Travis Head and South African wicketkeeper and explosive batter Heinrich Klaasen. SRH's top order has underperformed for the team and significantly impacted the standings in the points table. However, batting order has become a curse for them, which was expected to be a boon as it used to look good on paper.

SRH in IPL 2025: Bowling Department

Sunrisers Hyderabad's bowling attack featured a lethal pace lineup, including Australian captain Pat Cummins, star Indian pacer Mohammed Shami, and last season's Purple Cap holder Harshal Patel. However, their performance did not meet the team's expectations, resulting in a mediocre bowling performance. Another significant reason for the team's performance was the lack of a bowler who could give early blows to opponents during the powerplay. Team problems didn't end here, as the team also couldn't take wickets in the middle overs.

So, the overall team's performance can be summarised as “big names, tiny performance.” Despite having one of the best teams on paper, SRH didn't perform and finished the season at number 6, winning only six matches.
