by UMMADI JAYA

The Indian Premier League (IPL) has been a showcase for explosive batting since its inception in 2008. The Maximum Sixes Award was traditionally presented to the batsman who hit the most sixes in a season.
Chris Gayle’s dominance is evident, leading the charts in multiple seasons, including a record 59 sixes in 2012. Andre Russell’s 52 sixes in 2019 and Jos Buttler’s 45 in 2022 are also noteworthy. The transition to the ‘Longest Six of the Season’ award in 2023 marked a shift in recognizing power-hitting prowess in the IPL.
