India Women Beat Sri Lanka by 7 Wickets, Take 2–0 Lead in T20I Series

India won the 2nd T20 match easily, beating Sri Lanka by 7 wickets. With this win, India now lead the 5-match series 2–0. Sri Lanka must win the next three matches in a row to win the series. India won the toss yet again and elected to bowl first. Sneh Rana (1/11) and Shree Charani (2/23) bowled brilliant spells and restricted Sri Lanka to 128/9 in what was a combined effort from the bowling unit.
Harshitha Madavi Samarawickrama (33 off 32), skipper Chamari Athapaththu (31 off 24) and Hasini Perera (22 off 28) were the only batters to get starts for Sri Lanka. Vaishnavi Sharma was slightly expensive but picked up her first 2 wickets in international cricket.

Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana started off well, assessed the conditions quickly and took the charge in a 29-run partnership before Mandhana (14 off 11) mistimed one hit off Kavisha Dilhari. Jemimah Rodrigues - the newly appointed Delhi Capitals captain then hit 4 fours and a maximum to hit 26 off 15 balls before Kawya Kavindi had her caught at long off.
Verma continued to smash the ball to all parts of the park after the powerplay as well and brought up her 12th T20I fifty off 27 balls and finished with 69 off 24 balls hitting 11 fours and a maximum. Harmanpreet Kaur scored 10 off 12 but was bowled by Malki Madara when the scores were level. Richa Ghosh at number 5 then scored the winning run in the 12th over. The series will now move to Thiruvananthapuram for the third T20I on Friday, 26th December.
