India Fined 10% of Match Fee for Slow Over-Rate Against Australia

India has been fined 10% of their match fee for not keeping up with the required over-rate during the third Women’s One Day International against Australia in New Delhi on Saturday. G.S. Lakshmi from the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees handed out the fine after India were found to be two overs behind the required rate, even after factoring in the extra time allowed.
In accordance with Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to minimum over-rate offences, players are fined five per cent of their match fee for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time.
India’s captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, admitted to the offence and agreed to the suggested punishment, so a formal hearing wasn’t needed.
The charge was made by on-field umpires Lauren Agenbag and Janani Narayanan, with support from third umpire Gayathri Venugopalan and fourth umpire Vrinda Rathi.
