India Bowling Coach Morne Morkel Leaves Camp Amid Personal Emergency Ahead of Champions TrophyIndia’s bowling coach, Morne Morkel, has left the team’s practice camp in Dubai to return home due to a personal emergency. Reports say that the former South African fast bowler had to leave urgently because his father passed away.

Morkel, who was appointed for the top job in September last year, had traveled to Dubai with the Indian team on Saturday, February 15, and attended the team’s first practice session ahead of the start of ICC Champions Trophy 2025 on Sunday. He was, however, absent from Team India’s second practice session on Monday, February 17, which was done under lights. It is not clear at this stage whether Morkel will return to join the side in the coming days.

India’s Schedule in Champions Trophy 2025

The Indian team is set to begin their campaign against Bangladesh on February 20 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The second match against Pakistan is set for February 23 at the same venue. After that, India will take on New Zealand on March 2.

The 10th edition of the Champions Trophy is making a return after eight years. The tournament will kick off on February 19, with Pakistan facing New Zealand in Karachi. While Pakistan is officially the host, India’s matches were moved to Dubai due to political reasons.
