India add Zimbabwe series after England tour in busy 2026 schedule
india national cricket team’s schedule is getting busier after IPL 2026. A new series has been added where India will tour Zimbabwe national cricket team for 3 T20 matches in August, after finishing their white-ball tour of England. This will be India’s third tour of Zimbabwe in the last four years. They last played there in 2022 (3 ODIs) and again in 2024 (5 T20Is).
This time, there will be three T20Is in the India vs Zimbabwe series. On the last tour, India won 4-1. India will host Sikandar Raza-led Zimbabwe in January 2027 for a three-match ODI series. Among the big three (India, England and Australia), only India have consistently toured Zimbabwe in the last few years. In 2026, that will change.
India Add Zimbabwe Tour as Schedule Gets Busier
Australia national cricket team will tour Zimbabwe national cricket team in September. Before that, Zimbabwe will also host them for a short series. Zimbabwe Cricket is also planning more matches. They are in talks with England national cricket team to play a one-off Test match in late 2026, before England go on their tour of South Africa. While Zimbabwe is happy with India touring the nation, they want to play Test cricket against the Big Three, as per journalist Tristan Travale’s Cricket Financial Journal. India’s last Test against Zimbabwe was back in 2005. Since then, India have not played Zimbabwe in Test.
“It is a big boost for Zimbabwean cricket every time we play India, Australia and England. If we can play them in Test cricket, it will be a great opportunity for the players who can only improve when playing against the best and also rewards us for our efforts to keep playing Test cricket,” Zimbabwe Cricket chair Tavengwa Mukuhlani told CFJ.
