India A Squad Announced: Shreyas Iyer to Lead Against Australia A in Lucknow

The BCCI on Saturday named a 15-player India A team that will play against Australia A in two multi-day matches starting September 16 in Lucknow.
Shreyas Iyer will captain the team, with wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel as his vice-captain. The squad also has Sai Sudharsan, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Prasidh Krishna, who were part of India’s recent five-match Test series in England.
“KL Rahul and Mohammed Siraj will be added to the squad for the 2nd multi-day match and will replace two players in the squad after the 1st multi-day match,” a BCCI release stated.

The second multi-day match is scheduled to begin on September 23. This series will be a good chance for players like Abhimanyu Easwaran, Tanush Kotian, and N. Jagadeesan. They have been close to the Indian Test team in recent times but are still waiting to play their first match.
Left-handed batter Devdutt Padikkal will be eager to make a mark and push for a recall to the Indian Test team. He last played a Test for India against Australia in Perth last year during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and will be looking to add to his two appearances in the longest format.
The India A series against the touring Australian team comes just after the Duleep Trophy final, which starts on September 11. It will also act as a warm-up before West Indies tour India for two Tests starting October 2.
After the two multi-day matches, the teams will play three one-day games on September 30, October 3, and October 5 in Kanpur.
