India 'A' Squad Announced for England Tour: Easwaran to Lead, Gill and Sudharsan to Join Later
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the India ‘A’ team for the upcoming tour of England on Friday. India 'A' will play two four-day matches against the England Lions, starting on May 30 in Canterbury. After that, the team will also take part in an intra-squad match beginning on June 13 in Beckenham.
Abhimanyu Easwaran to Lead India A, Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan to Join Squad for Second Match
Abhimanyu Easwaran, who was part of India’s squad for the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, has been named captain of the India A team. Wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel will be the vice-captain. Shubman Gill, who is being talked about as a possible future captain of the Indian Test team after Rohit Sharma, will join the A team before the second match. He will be joined by his Gujarat Titans teammate, Sai Sudharsan.
The team also includes Yashasvi Jaiswal, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Akash Deep, Sarfaraz Khan, Harshit Rana, and Tanush Kotian, all of whom were part of the squad that went to Australia for India’s most recent Test series.
Kotian was picked for the fourth and fifth Tests of the series after R. Ashwin unexpectedly announced his retirement. He is now being seen as a possible replacement for the legendary spinner. Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan will join the squad ahead of the second match.
