IND vs SA Update: Kuldeep Yadav Requests Leave for Wedding, May Miss IND vs SA 2nd Test and ODIs

India spinner Kuldeep Yadav has requested some time off from the BCCI at the end of the month for his wedding. He is currently part of the Test squad for the IND vs SA series. Reports say Kuldeep’s wedding was originally planned earlier this year but had to be postponed because the IPL ended later than expected.

According to the Times of India, Kuldeep Yadav is waiting for the BCCI to approve his leave request for his wedding. Sources said he asked for time off during the last week of November. Even though he is in India’s Test squad for the series against South Africa, it is not yet clear if he will play in the matches.

“Kuldeep’s wedding is planned for the last week of November. The team management will assess when they need his services before granting him the exact number of leaves,” a BCCI said.

Kuldeep was last seen playing in the 2nd unofficial Test between India A and South Africa A at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence.

He managed to pick up just one wicket in that match. Before this, he had also played in one ODI and two T20Is in Australia. The wrist spinner has been in excellent touch in Test cricket, taking 12 wickets in 2 matches against the West Indies. But the surface at the Eden Gardens might aid faster spinners more.

We already know that Gill and Gambhir tend to favor all-rounders over specialist players. This could mean Axar might get the nod ahead of Kuldeep, not just because he bowls quicker, but also because he is clearly a stronger batsman.
