KL Rahul and Jadeja Scored Fifties

After Rohit’s dismissal, Rahul and Jadeja contributed to a partnership of 67 runs. Rahul got dismissed at a personal score of 84 on Nathan Lyon’s ball, where Steve Smith made a spectacular catch at the slips.

After Rahul's wicket, Jadeja took the driver's seat and batted till the last session; he was also the previous dismissal of the day. In his 22nd test half-century, he scored 77 runs in 123 balls with seven boundaries and a massive six. He formed two partnerships, a 67-run stand with KL Rahul and a 53-run partnership with Nitish Kumar Reddy.

Match Saving Partnership

Only one wicket was left after Jadeja's dismissal, and India needed to score 246 runs to save the follow-on. It looked like India would bat again today, but what happened next wasn't expected. Jaspreet Bumrah and Akashdeep formed a 39-run partnership to save the follow-on; both batted like they were top-order batters, with classic defence, playing on the merit of the ball, preventing big-shot urge. It was a fantastic moment when Akashdeep hit a boundary over the gully to cross the 246-run mark on the day's last over. The celebration in the stadium was like India won the test match, along with the celebration in the dressing room.

After saving the follow-on, Akashdeep hit a massive six, like now he has a licence to hit the sixes and boundaries; the shot spreads laughter in the dressing room. Watch video

By the end of day 4, India was at 252 for nine wickets. Jasprit Bumrah and Akashdeep will come back to bat on Day 5; Australia will bat again on Day 5 after India’s innings, and the most likely outcome of the matches is drawn, but it's no less than a win for India after 75/5 and behind by over 400 runs to draw the match.
