Chloe Tryon and Marizanne Kapp recovered from the failure of the top order and Nadine de Klerk proved to be the best finisher once again as South Africa beat Bangladesh by three wickets in an exciting Women's World Cup match. De Klerk, who played an innings of 84 runs to win the team against India, hit Nahida Akhtar for a four and a six in the last over to take South Africa to 235 for seven wickets.

Tryon and de Klerk lead South Africa Women to 3-wicket victory

Tryon and Marizanne Kapp put on an 85-run partnership for the sixth wicket to keep South Africa in the match after the top and middle order failed to deliver a disciplined performance from the Bangladesh bowlers. Kaap scored 56 runs off 71 balls with the help of four fours and a six. Tryon then took the lead but after scoring 62 off 69 balls, she was run out when her team needed 35 off 31 balls. De Klerk scored an unbeaten 37 off 29 balls with the help of four fours and a six to lead the team to victory. For Bangladesh, Ritu took one wicket for just 29 runs in ten overs while Nahida got two wickets.

Earlier, Shorna Akhtar, who made the fastest ODI half-century (in 35 balls) for Bangladesh, scored 232 runs for six wickets after opting to bat first in the last overs. For a time it seemed that the Bangladesh team would not even be able to reach 200 runs but Shorna changed the picture in the last five overs. He pulled the team out of trouble by scoring an unbeaten 51 in 35 balls with the help of three fours and three sixes. Ritu supported him well and scored 19 runs in eight balls.

With their third win in a row, South Africa are now third with six points from four matches, pushing India to fourth place. Australia are at the top with seven points from four matches and England are second with six points after winning all three matches. India has four points in four matches and is in fourth place.
