ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025: Opening Ceremony Set to Honor Zubeen Garg

The ICC Women's ODI World Cup 2025 will be held in India and Sri Lanka from September 30 to November 2. Eight teams will take part, playing in a round-robin format, with a total of 31 matches over 34 days. The best four teams from the group stage will move on to the semifinals.
Most games will start at 3 PM IST, except for the match between New Zealand and England on October 26, which will begin at 11 AM IST. This marks the fourth time India is hosting the Women's ODI World Cup, after 1978, 1997, and 2013, and the first time for Sri Lanka.
Opening Ceremony Performances and Tributes
The opening ceremony will take place on September 30 at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, right before the first match between India and Sri Lanka. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed on Friday that renowned singers Shreya Ghoshal and Papon will perform at the opening ceremony of the ICC Women's ODI World Cup in Guwahati on September 30.
He also said that the Shillong Choir Chamber will perform at the event, and there will be tributes to Zubeen Garg, who recently passed away in Singapore.
"Some of the famous singers from our region like Papon, Shreya Ghoshal, Shillong Choir Chamber will perform before the match and pay their tributes to Zubeen," Saikia said.
Acclaimed singer Shreya Ghoshal will perform a special tribute to Zubeen Garg during the break of the first match. The tribute will also include other well-known regional artists like Papon, Joi Barua, and the Shillong Choir Chamber.
