ICC T20I rankings: Sahibzada Farhan nears Abhishek Sharma on top batters list
Pakistan opening batter Sahibzada Farhan has replaced England’s Phil Salt in second place after moving up one spot in the ICC men’s T20I batting rankings. With a career-best rating of 848, Farhan is closely trailing Abhishek Sharma, who has 874 rating points at the top.
Record-breaking World Cup for Farhan
The Pakistan batter had a stellar T20 World Cup campaign, scoring at an average of 76.6 while striking at 160. He also became the first batter to score two hundreds in a single T20 World Cup edition, which saw him go past Virat Kohli as the highest run-getter in one T20 World Cup. With 383 runs, he is currently the highest run-scorer of the tournament, with New Zealand’s Finn Allen the next batter from a surviving team, on 289 runs.
Fakhar, Abrar surge
Fakhar Zaman, who joined Farhan in a 176-run partnership against Sri Lanka in Pakistan’s last tournament game, has also improved his ranking, moving up 17 spots to 71st place.
Abrar Ahmed has also moved up two places to third spot, trailing Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan at No. 2 and Varun Chakravarthy at the top.
In the T20I all-rounders’ rankings, opening batter Saim Ayub has moved to third after dropping a place following his dismal T20 World Cup form. Mohammad Nawaz, on the other hand, has improved his ranking by moving up one place to eighth position.
