Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya has been fined 10 percent of his match fee for breaking the IPL Code of Conduct during the match against Kolkata Knight Riders on Wednesday.

It was a disappointing game for Hardik, as he scored 26 runs off 27 balls and bowled only two overs, giving away 13 runs. Mumbai Indians, who are already out of the tournament, also suffered a 4-wicket defeat against KKR.

As per an IPL press release, Hardik was found guilty of breaching Article 2.2 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which pertains to “abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during a Match.”

The incident occurred in  4th ball of the 10th over of the second innings of the match, when Hardik Pandya, while walking back to his run-up, knocked the bails of the wicket with force. The release states that Hardik has admitted the offence and the sanction imposed by the match referee.

“Hardik Pandya, Captain, Mumbai Indians (MI), has been fined 10% of his match fee and has also accumulated one Demerit Point for breaching Level 1 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct for Players and Team Officials during Match No. 65 against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata on Wednesday,” the release stated.

Hardik Pandya has endured a tough IPL 2026 season both as captain and player. Mumbai Indians have lost 9 of their 13 matches and are currently placed ninth on the points table.

Hardik also missed a few matches due to a back spasm, which led to speculation that the MI management could consider changing the captain after another disappointing season. Talking about Pandya’s performance, he has scored 172 runs from 9 matches at an average of 21.50 and a highest score of 40. With the ball, he has been quite expensive, having taken 4 wickets while conceding 259 runs from 136 balls at an economy rate of 11.42.
