Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah to Miss All Three ODIs Against South Africa: Reports
As Gautam Gambhir thinks about how to even out the Test series against South Africa, india’s next challenge will be the three ODIs against them. While Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will grab most of the attention, there’s a big update: Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah will miss all three one-day matches starting November 30.
Pandya’s fitness has been a concern for a while. He first got hurt during the Asia Cup match against Sri Lanka when his left quad tightened, and he couldn’t finish his overs. Two days later, India played the final against Pakistan without their key all-rounder. Shivam Dube stepped in and did well, even making some important contributions.
But Pandya’s absence was clearly felt because he brings balance to the team. India didn’t just miss a sixth bowler; they also missed a middle-order player. He can handle both pace and spin, giving flexibility to the batting. He also helps share the new-ball workload with Bumrah, making the team stronger overall.
“Hardik is recovering well from his quadriceps injury. He is training at the Centre of Excellence and following his Return To Play routines. Coming back from this injury, jumping straight into playing 50-over games would be risky. Until the T20 World Cup, the BCCI medical team and Hardik will focus only on T20Is,” a BCCI source told PTI.
