Harbhajan Singh Expresses Disappointment Over Samson and Chahal’s Exclusion from the Champions Trophy 2025 Squad.Recently in a press conference, the Indian team captain Rohit Sharma and the chief selector Ajit Agarakar announced the 15-member squad ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Some notable names are missing in the India squad like Sanju Samson, Chahal, and Siraj. The competition for the Indian team is so intense that even talented players are not getting a chance to play in the series or tournament. This makes Harbhajan Singh some disappointment over the squad selection by BCCI.

Former Indian team right-arm off-spinner Harbhajan Singh shared that he felt heartbroken over the squad selection of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. He was disappointed with the exclusion of wicketkeeper batter Sanju Samson and leg spinner Chahal from the Indian squad. While fans continue to debate about whose spot Samson could have taken, Harbhajan strongly believes space could have been made for the star Sanju Samson.

Harbhajan mentioned during a conversation with Switch "Truly, I feel bad for him. He scores runs but he is dropped. I know you can only select 15, but I feel his batting suits the format. He has an average of 55-56, but he isn't even there as a second wicketkeeper. When we talk about selecting him, people ask, in whose place? Places can be made,".

Harbhajan was not only upset with Samson's omission from the squad. He also questioned the selection committee about the exclusion of left-arm spinner Chahal for both the T20I series against England and the ICC Champions Trophy squad. Chahal took 96 wickets in just 80 matches and he was the second-highest T20I wicket-taker for India.

"Sanju isn't there. Yuzvendra Chahal isn't there, too. You've picked four spinners, two of them are left-armers. You could've included a leg-spinner for variation, too. Chahal is a superb bowler. I don't know what wrong he did that he doesn't fit this team," Harbhajan said.

Harbhajan also noted that the young and talented opener Yashasvi Jaiswal made it to the Champions Trophy squad, but Harbhajan expressed doubts about Jaiswal getting a chance to open or bat at No 3 or No 4.

“I thought Yashasvi would open, but now, I don't feel that. Shubman Gill is the vice-captain, so he will play. And Yashasvi won't bat at three or four, because Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer will occupy those spots,” Harbhajan added.
