Global Super League to Launch with Amazon Warriors and Qalandars

The inaugural Global Super League is set to kick off with a thrilling opening match between the Guyana Amazon Warriors and the Lahore Qalandars from Pakistan's Super League. This exciting five-team T20 tournament will also include Hampshire Hawks from the T20 Blast, Rangpur Riders from the Bangladesh Premier League, and Victoria, representing an Australian state team.
Commencing on November 26, the league will feature eleven matches over as many days, culminating in the final on December 7. Each team will face off against the others once, with the top two teams competing for the championship title.
Hosted entirely in Providence, Guyana, the event reflects the region's ambition to become a prominent global sports destination. "International club competition has proven successful in other sports, and it has been missing in cricket for quite some time," stated Giles White, Director of Men's Cricket at Hampshire. The Global Super League has received official sanctioning from Cricket West Indies (CWI) and is strongly backed by the Guyanese government, a crucial stakeholder in the tournament, which boasts a prize pool of $1 million.
However, the West Indies' concurrent Test series against Bangladesh, scheduled from November 22 to December 4, may lead to availability challenges for the Amazon Warriors, who have several players, including Shamar Joseph, Gudakesh Motie, and Kevin Sinclair, part of the national Test squad.
With the excitement building, cricket fans eagerly await this new chapter in international T20 cricket.
