Gautam Gambhir's Personal Assistant Barred from Traveling with Indian Team Over Policy Violation: Reports

In recent news, Gautam Gambhir's personal assistant, Gaurav Arora has bеen banned by the BCCI from traveling with the Indian cricket team. This decision comes after a complaint was received about Arora, who allegedly got access to restricted areas that are only for players, support staff, or selectors. If this is true, this will be the latest of the steps takеn by the BCCI after India's loss to Australia, following several steps it has implemented.

As per CricBlogger, Gautam Gambhir's assistant, Gaurav Arora, has been barred from staying at the team hotel, traveling with the team, using the team bus, and accessing VIP boxes at the stadiums. According to the report, Arora was accused of accessing the BCCI's hospitality box during the IND vs AUS 2nd Test in Adelaide, using cars reserved for selectors, and even entered restricted breakfast areas at the team hotel.

“In response, the BCCI has barred Gambhir’s PA from staying in the same hotel as the Indian team, accessing VIP boxes in stadiums, and using the team bus. He can’t travel with the team,” the source said.

Before this, the BCCI had banned player's families from traveling with them during tours. Only families can stay with the players for 14 days if the tour is more than 45 days. In the case of shorter tours, the limit is seven days. The BCCI has also prevented players from taking their own hair stylists and chefs on tour.

These problems were allegedly raised during a review meeting at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai, with captain Rohit Sharma, chief selector Ajit Agarkar, coach Gambhir, and other board members. The BCCI then released a ten-point advisory after the meeting.

  1. Domestic Matches Participation: Mandatory for eligibility and central contracts.
  2. Travel with the Team: Separate travel with families requires approval.
  3. Excess Baggage: Players bear the cost of excess baggage.
  4. Personal Staff: Restricted on tours, unless approved by BCCI.
  5. Centre of Excellence Coordination: Players bear additional costs for separate equipment shipments.
  6. Stay for Full Practice Sessions: Attendance and travel together are mandatory.
  7. Personal Shoots: Prohibited during ongoing tours/series.
  8. Family Travel: Allowed for tours over 45 days with BCCI coverage for accommodation.
  9. BCCI Official Engagements: Players must attend BCCI promotional activities.
  10. Stay Until Series End: Players are required to stay with the team till the tour/series is over.
