Dinesh Karthik Officially Appointed India Captain for Hong Kong Sixes 2025
Former Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik is going to captain India in the Hong Kong Sixes 2025. Karthik had retired from all forms of Indian cricket in 2024. Right now, he is working as the batting coach for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL. But now, he is coming back to play and lead the team in this tournament. His smart leadership and powerful batting will be a big help for India in the event.
“We are proud to welcome Dinesh Karthik as the Captain of Team India for the Hong Kong Sixes 2025. With his vast international experience, sharp leadership skills and explosive batting, Dinesh will bring both inspiration and intensity to the tournament. His appointment reflects the spirit of the Sixes — fearless, entertaining, and world-class. Join us from 7–9 November in Hong Kong as we host a global celebration of cricket,” posted Hong Kong cricket on X.

Speaking about his new role, Karthik said it’s a big honour for him to captain India. He wants the team to play fearless and exciting cricket. “It is an absolute honour leading Team India at the Hong Kong Sixes, a tournament with such rich history and global recognition. I look forward to lead a group of players who have such incredible records to their credit, and together we will aim to bring joy to the fans and play cricket that is both fearless and entertaining” Karthik said in a media statement.
R Ashwin will join Karthik to play in the Hong Kong Sixes. This will be Ashwin’s first real cricket tournament since he retired from the IPL. India will be hoping to do much better this year, after they lost all their matches and were knocked out in the first round in 2024 under Robin Uthappa’s captaincy.
