Darren Sammy Became West Indies’ All Format coach

Two-time T20 World Cup winner Darren Sammy, Became the new all-format coach of West Indies cricket. During the quarterly press conference in St. Vincent, Cricket West Indies Director of Cricket Miles Bascombe shared the change with the media.
Sammy will become the head coach of the Test team in April 2025 after Andrey Coley's tenure ends. Sammy is already the West Indies' white ball coach and take over as /the all-format coach on April 1 next year.
Sammy, the two-time T20 World Cup winner captain in the 2012 and 2016 editions, has gained popularity and praise from the cricket fraternity for regrowth in the West Indies white-ball cricket since he became the limited over head coach in 2023. Earlier, West Indies faced tough times after being unable to secure the positions in the ICC tournament, losing its place to Afghanistan.

Sammy’s performance as White Ball head coach
Since Darren Sammy became the team's white-ball coach, the team has won 15 out of 28 ODI games, while in T20, the team has a better winning rate with 20 wins out of 35 matches. Sammy's leadership and coaching style introduced a new motivation and mindset in the team after his white ball performance board decided to extend his role to red ball cricket, too.
Sammy was a key player in his time, helping to finish the innings and scoring some quick runs in the last few overs. He scored 1323 runs at an average of 21.68, scoring one half-century and one century. On the bowling side, he took 84 wickets in his career.
In the recent ODI series, West Indies swept the series 3-0 against Bangladesh, while the team lost the first match of the T20I series.
