Champions Trophy 2025: Mohammed Shami Confident About Selection with Bold Statement

by William Campbell

Shami has been out of the Indian squad since the 2023 World Cup final and has had his share of troubles because of injuries. Ever since then he has been playing in the domestic cricket but there is still no clear indication by the BCCI or even the NCA as to when Shami will be fit again. As a result, there were rumors that he would join the Indian team for the Border-Gavaskar trophy but that did not happen.

The skipper Rohit Sharma also commented on Shami’s fitness during the recent series. “I think it’s high time somebody from NCA talked about him. That’s our national cricket academy where he is rehabbing. Those guys need to come up and give us some kind of update. But look, I understand he’s playing a lot of cricket back home, but there have been some complaints about his knee as well,” Rohit said.

However, it appears that Mohammed Shami has other plans in mind. The pacer posted a video on his Instagram account on Tuesday with the caption “Precision, Pace, and Passion, All Set to Take on the World! 🌍💪” which has given the fans a hope that he might make a comeback. This has led social media into thinking that he might be planning on making a comeback which could even be in the Champions Trophy 2025.

In the video, Shami is seen bowling at full speed which shows his commitment to the game. This season, he has played only 2 matches in the Vijay Hazare Trophy but he performed well in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He was quite effective in that tournament as he picked up 11 wickets in 9 matches that he played, at an average of 25 runs per wicket with an economy rate of 7.85.
