The Buchi Babu Trophy, Tamil Nadu’s most prestigious domestic cricket tournament, is set to captivate cricket enthusiasts once again. Named in honor of Mothavarapu Venkata Mahipathi Naidu—better known as Buchi Babu Naidu and revered as the Father of Madras Cricket—the tournament promises thrilling action and fierce competition. This year’s edition will commence on Monday, August 18, and conclude on Tuesday, September 9, featuring a total of 27 matches, including three knockout games, spread across multiple venues.

The tournament will see 16 teams vying for glory, divided into four groups. The top team from each group will advance to the semi-finals. Here’s how the groups are structured:

The Buchi Babu Trophy 2025 will be played over four rounds, with eight matches in each round. The league stage matches will span three days, with the first innings consisting of 90 overs and the second innings limited to 45 overs per team. The knockout matches will be four-day affairs.
