BCCI Likely to Add Extra Matches in Already Packed 12-Month Schedule for Team India

The next 12 months will be very busy for the Indian cricket team. They may not get much rest between tournaments. The players have just finished the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 and will soon start the Indian Premier League 2026 season. The IPL begins on March 28 and will continue until May 31. And then post then, the long calendar will start once again.

According to a report by Cricbuzz, the team is scheduled to play Sri Lanka national cricket team in two Tests in July–August. However, three more T20I matches may also be added to the schedule.

It seems that the BCCI is considering a request from the SLC, for a fundraiser for Sri Lanka’s flood relief. The T20Is are expected to precede the Test series. In fact, before that, the Indian team will travel to England for ODI and T20I series between July 1 and 19, with possibly a short detour to Ireland.

“Discussions are underway,” a source said. Meanwhile, in June, India national cricket team will host Afghanistan national cricket team for a home series. The two teams will play one Test and three ODIs between June 6 and 20. In September, there will be a six match-series against Bangladesh, which will be subject to clearance, given political tensions between two nations.

There could be a Zimbabwe series which could be squeezed in between, Nothing is finalised, but it is to be played out in September as well. This will be close to the West Indies home series, where they play three ODIs and five T20Is. In October, also the Asian Games is scheduled, where Team India will be expected to defend their title. Simultaneously, the WI ODIs will be running.
