BCCI Elects New Officials: Mithun Manhas Becomes President, Raghuram Named Treasurer

[ Poll: Pyg3qkyY ]

Mithun Manhas, the former Delhi captain and current cricket administrator in Jammu and Kashmir, has come forward as a leading name for the BCCI president’s post. On Saturday, former India spinner and Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) president Raghuram Bhat and Manhas were among the administrators who gathered in New Delhi on Saturday for an informal meeting ahead of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Annual General Meeting.

With Sunday being the deadline for filing nominations, a few top administrators and decision-makers met in the national capital to decide on the candidates for the vacant posts in the Board. While there were speculations that the 67-year-old Bhat, who has played two Tests for India, was in the fray for the president role, his presence in the meeting only added fuel to the fire. However, it is believed that he could be nominated as the treasurer.

Mithun Manhas Emerges as Strong Contender for BCCI President’s Post

There was some talk that former India captain and ex-BCCI president Sourav Ganguly might be in the race for the top post, but sources said he was not invited to the meeting in the national capital. Manhas has played 157 first-class matches and scored 9,714 runs in a career spanning 18 years.

He has also played in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for franchises like Delhi Daredevils and is currently an assistant coach at Gujarat Titans. Since 2021, he has been an administrator at Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association’s committee formed by the BCCI.
