BCCI Announces Schedule for Australia Women’s, Australia Men’s A and South Africa Men’s A Tours in India
The BCCI has announced the schedule for the ODI series between the India women’s team and Australia. The matches will be played in September this year and will act as a good warm-up ahead of the Women’s ODI World Cup in 2025. Harmanpreet Kaur-led India will take on Australia in a three-match ODI series at home, with all games set to be played in Chennai. The series will begin on September 14 followed by the second match on September 17 and the final game on September 20.
This indicates that there will be under two weeks of interval between the bilateral series and the crucial ODI World Cup. The 50-over competition is scheduled to be held in India starting September 29. India, Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa, and Sri Lanka earned direct qualification for the World Cup, while Pakistan and Bangladesh booked their places through the qualifiers conducted earlier this year.
India is hosting the World Cup for the first time since 2013, so the team will want to build confidence in this important series against the six-time world champions, Australia. The last time they played each other in an ODI series was in December 2024 in Australia, where India lost 3-0. Now, they have a chance to make a comeback. The Women’s World Cup will take place from September 26 to November 2 with the final at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Stadium in Mullanpur. Other cities like Vishakhapatnam, Thiruvananthapuram, Raipur and Indore will also host matches many for the first time.
The BCCI has announced the schedule for the India A men’s team, who will host Australia and South Africa in two multi-format series starting in late September. A special part of this plan is that the new Centre of Excellence will host two multi-day matches during the South Africa series, which will be the first big games played at this top-notch facility. Also, South Africa’s main men’s team is coming to India for a big tour starting November 14, which will include two Tests, three ODIs, and five T20 matches.
