Bangladesh Qualify Directly for 2028 T20 World Cup Despite 2026 Exit

Even though Bangladesh were knocked out of the Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, they have still qualified directly for the 2028 tournament. After Bangladesh were eliminated, the International Cricket Council (ICC) replaced them with Scotland in the competition. The ICC has confirmed the 12 teams that will qualify for the event. As hosts, Australia and New Zealand don’t need to qualify.

The teams that finish in the top 7 of the T20 World Cup 2026, excluding the hosts, will make it next. Lastly, the remaining 3 teams will qualify based on ICC team ranking. Although the cutoff was March 9, the date of the T20 World Cup 2026 final, since the team ranked 10 or below won’t be playing any matches, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Ireland have also secured direct qualifications.
The remaining eight places will be decided through four regional qualifiers, Americas, Europe, Africa, and Asia-EAP.
In the T20 World Cup 2026:
From the Americas, Canada qualified.
From Europe, Italy and the Netherlands made it.
From Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe qualified.
From Asia-EAP, Nepal, Oman, and the UAE secured their spots.
