Bangladesh have made one last try to stay in the T20 World Cup 2026. Earlier, they said they would not travel to India and were ready to miss the tournament. Now, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has asked the ICC’s Dispute Resolution Committee to look into the matter and change their match schedule.
Bangladesh pushes ICC to change T20 World Cup 2026 schedule over security concerns
The ICC had already refused Bangladesh’s request to move their matches from India to another country. The ICC said security was approved and changing venues would disturb the whole tournament. Still, Bangladesh has decided not to give up and has taken the issue to the ICC’s legal panel.
This legal panel checks if the ICC followed its own rules while taking a decision. It does not run like a normal court. Once it gives a decision, it cannot be changed. Bangladesh feels the ICC did not treat them fairly. Pakistan is also supporting Bangladesh. Even though Bangladesh could lose a huge amount of money, they are standing firm on not going to India.

Many fans in Bangladesh are supporting the team. A public petition asking the ICC to move Bangladesh’s matches to neutral venues has crossed 38,000 signatures. People say safety should be taken seriously.
The situation became worse after fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman was removed from Kolkata Knight Riders for security reasons. The Bangladesh board says he was fit and allowed to play. They had asked the ICC to change venues or swap groups, but the ICC said no. Bangladesh are set to play their matches in Kolkata and Mumbai from February 7. If the legal panel does not support them, Scotland will take their place in the tournament.
