Babar Azam continues dominance in ODIs against Australia
For batters with at least 500 ODI runs against Australia, Babar Azam has the best average, 68.63. Including the first ODI against the side, where he scored 69 runs in a match-winning partnership with fellow batter Ghazi Ghori, Babar has scored 755 runs against Australia in 14 games. His average against Australia is also the highest against all teams in ODIs (min. 10 games).
Is Babar back?
There is always this question which lingers as an afterthought after every decent innings played by Babar. Is he really back this time? Has he finally battled down his woes? The answer to that is almost too difficult to say with certainty. But this time, the proof is there in abundance. Following his incredible form in Pakistan Super League, Babar did well against Bangladesh in the second Test, as he scored 115 runs across both innings.
He also looked exceedingly comfortable against Australia in the first ODI, especially given that the surface gave spinners, who have been his Achilles' heel for quite some time, much to work with. 52 runs from his tally came against spinners, including a six off Matt Renshaw, one of only three sixes hit in the game.
