Azmatullah Omarzai Becomes Afghanistan's First ICC ODI Player of the Year
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the star Afghanistan all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai as the winner of the ICC Men's ODI Cricketer of the Year 2024 award. Azmatullah Omarzi has performed very well in the 2024 year with his excellent all-rounder performance with bat and ball.
He scored 417 runs in just 14 ODIs which included one century and three half-centuries and also he took 17 wickets in 2024. His best bowling figure 4/18 in just 4.2 overs came against Zimbabwe on December 17, 2024. Azmatullah has a played key role in Afghanistan's ODI wins against big teams.

Afghanistan has secured four consecutive ODI series wins against Bangladesh, Ireland, South Africa, and Zimbabwe. One of his remarkable performances came in his first ODI of the year against Sri Lanka, where he scored an unbeaten 149* with his stunning batting skills. And also he played an explosive knock-86* off just 50 balls against South Africa. With his knock, Afghanistan has secured a dominant series win.
Omarzi was also in the ICC ODI Team of the Year Team 2024 along with two Afghanistan players Allah Ghazanfar and Rahmanullah Gurbaz. Azmatullah Omarzai has an impressive average of 52.12 with the bat and 20.47 with the ball.
