While warming up for the T20 match in Melbourne on Tuesday, he was hit by a ball on his head. After that, he was immediately taken to the hospital. The same incident occurred in the Volley War Reserve on Ferntree Street. The incident with the young cricketer shocked everyone present.

There was mourning in the cricket world due to the death of the young cricketer. 17 year old Ben Austin would have been practicing net in Ferntree Lane on Tuesday. Then a ball fired from an automatic bowling machine hit the young cricketer and hit him. It is said that Ben Austin also wore a helmet.

The young cricketer was admitted to the hospital in a critical condition before 6 pm local time. Where he was put on life support system, he died on Wednesday. Ferntree Gully Cricket Club said in a statement: 'We are deeply saddened by the tragic passing of our player and we are deeply saddened by the passing of young Player'.
