Team India now looks fully prepared for the upcoming series against Australia. However, the Australian team has suffered two major setbacks just before the start of the series. With the comeback of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, Australia was aiming to field its strongest lineup, but the absence of two star players has forced changes.

The Australian team has already announced replacements for both players, who were almost certain to be part of the playing XI.

Australia Suffer Double Setback as Zampa and Inglis Miss First ODI Against India

Ahead of the series against India, Australia has been hit with two major blows. Star spinner Adam Zampa and wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis have been ruled out of the Perth ODI. Zampa is expecting his second child and will only join the squad from the second ODI onwards. Matthew Kuhnemann has been added to the squad for the first ODI as his replacement. Once Zampa returns, Kuhnemann will be released from the team. Zampa’s absence will make Australia’s bowling attack look weaker.

Josh Inglis, meanwhile, is out of the first ODI due to a calf injury sustained during the series against New Zealand. However, he is expected to recover and rejoin the squad before the second ODI.

Young Player Gets a Chance

Josh Inglis’s absence has given Josh Phillipe a chance to make a comeback, as he has been called up as a replacement. Since Alex Carey is busy playing domestic cricket to get ready for the upcoming Ashes series, Phillipe has been handed the opportunity. He is also expected to be part of the playing XI for the first ODI.

Australia is already missing its regular captain Pat Cummins, who has been ruled out of the ODI series due to injury. He is expected to make his return for the Ashes series.
