Australia A's Opening Contenders Named as India A Set to Bat First in Mackay

by Alxe

Sam Konstas and Marcus Harris are set to open the innings for Australia A in their first four-day match against India A in Mackay. With the competition for the Test opening position heating up, Cameron Bancroft will follow at No. 3. Australia A captain Nathan McSweeney won the toss and opted to field, allowing India A to bat first at the Great Barrier Reef Arena. Despite McSweeney’s inexperience in opening the batting in first-class cricket, he is confident in his preparation, having consistently batted at No. 3 for South Australia. "It’s not too dissimilar to opening; I feel ready with the new ball," he stated. National selection chair George Bailey noted that the batting order remains flexible as Konstas aims to establish himself as a potential partner for Usman Khawaja.
