Asia Cup 2025 Points Table: Pakistan Thrash Oman by 93 Runs in T20I Opener

Oman bowled well in the latter part of Pakistan’s innings, keeping them to 160/7. But chasing that score against bowlers like Shaheen Afridi, Abrar Ahmed, Mohammad Nawaz and Sufiyan Muqeem was always going to be very difficult, and that’s exactly how it played out. Aamir Kaleem and Jatinder opened for the tournament debutant, somehow survived Shaheen’s opening burst, but Saim Ayub had both the openers with his part-time off-spin, inside the powerplay.
Hammad Mirza decided not to bow and rather take down the Pakistani bowlers. It paid off for him as he nailed a couple of lusty boundaries, which helped Oman to get 40/2 at the end of powerplay. Straight after the powerplay, Pakistan introduced their main weapons and shuffled in between Muqeem, Nawaz and Abrar. The spin trio cooked Oman’s middle-order batters and had them brutally. Oman were reduced to 49/6 from being at 41/2 at one stage, as Muqeem had two and Nawaz took one.
Pakistan Crush Oman by 93 Runs in T20I Opener
Faheem Ashraf and Shaheen were asked to clean up the tail, and they removed three out of four batters. Shakeel Ahmed and Samay Shrivastava frustrated Pakistan for 27 balls, with their 16-run partnership for the last wicket. The last pair, somehow, played out of the pacers, but it was Abrar who had the final wicket. Eventually, Oman were bundled out to 67 runs as Pakistan won their opening game by a massive margin of 93 runs. Additionally, it was the fifth-lowest score for any side against Pakistan in T20I cricket.
Earlier in the evening, Mohammad Haris played a lovely hand for his 66-run knock. He had a tall partnership of 85 runs with Sahibzada Farhan, but they lost the plot after that. Fakhar Zaman and Mohammad Nawaz hung in the middle for a bit, helping Pakistan get to 160/7. For Oman, the debutant Faisal Shah and Aamir Kaleem emerged as the two best bowlers, returning with three wickets each.
