Asia Cup 2025: India May Rest Jasprit Bumrah Against Oman, Arshdeep Singh or Harshit Rana Likely to Play
India are likely to rest Jasprit Bumrah for their final group game against Oman in the Asia Cup, as the team wants their star pacer fresh and ready for the tougher Super Four stage, a PTI report said. India started the tournament in style, beating UAE by nine wickets on September 9, and then thrashed Pakistan by seven wickets five days later to grab the top spot in their group with a game still in hand.
India’s last group match against Oman on September 19 is now just a formality, as their place in the Super Four is already secured. Suryakumar Yadav’s team sealed the spot with ease and the choice to rest Jasprit Bumrah is seen as a smart call. With the chance of playing up to four games in just seven days if they make the final managing his workload has become a top priority.
The 30-year-old pacer has been in top form, picking up 2 for 28 against Pakistan to overtake Bhuvneshwar Kumar and become India’s fourth-highest wicket-taker in T20 internationals. So far, he has 92 wickets from 72 matches, with an impressive average of 17.67 and a tidy economy rate of 6.29.
Arshdeep Singh or Harshit Rana Likely to Step in for Bumrah
Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana are the main options to step in for Jasprit Bumrah in India’s playing XI. For Arshdeep, the game could be special as he needs just one wicket to become the eighth Indian bowler to take 100 wickets in T20Is. Picking him would not only strengthen India’s bowling but also give him the chance to reach a big career milestone.
The clash with Oman also gives India’s batsmen a chance to get more time in the middle, something they missed in the easy wins against UAE and Pakistan. On the bowling side, Kuldeep Yadav’s three for 18 against Pakistan lifted him to sixth place on India’s T20I wicket-takers list with 76 wickets in 42 games, adding valuable depth to the attack as India prepare for the tougher Super Four stage.
