Angkrish Raghuvanshi Ruled Out of IPL 2026 After Finger Fracture During KKR vs MI Clash
Kolkata Knight Riders batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi has been ruled out of the remainder of the IPL 2026 season after suffering a finger injury during KKR’s clash against Mumbai Indians on Wednesday. The franchise confirmed that the 21-year-old fractured a finger on his left hand while attempting a catch during the match.
The incident occurred while Raghuvanshi was keeping wickets. He collided with spinner Varun Chakaravarthy while trying to complete a catch off the latter’s bowling. Both players appeared to miscommunicate over who would take the catch, and although Varun initially got both hands to the ball, Angkrish’s late attempt caused the chance to spill out.
Following the collision, Raghuvanshi immediately walked off the field and was later seen wearing a brace on his hand. KKR subsequently confirmed that he had also suffered concussion-related symptoms and used the concussion substitute rule to bring in Tejasvi Dahiya, who made his wicketkeeping and batting debut for the franchise during the game.
Shane Watson Reveals Extent of Raghuvanshi’s Injury
Speaking after the match, KKR assistant coach Shane Watson explained the extent of the incident. “Angkrish ran a long way to try and take that catch. Unfortunately, the collision with Varun Chakravarthy led to neck pain, dizziness, and a headache within a couple of overs,” Watson said.
Watson added that Raghuvanshi was disappointed at not being able to continue, highlighting the youngster’s competitive nature. “He’s someone who is as tough a competitor as I’ve ever met. We certainly missed him from a batting perspective,” the former Australian all-rounder stated.
The injury comes as a major setback for KKR, especially during the business end of the tournament. Raghuvanshi had been an important part of the batting unit this season, and his absence will now force the franchise to reshuffle its middle-order combinations heading into the crucial final phase of IPL 2026.
