Ahmedabad Weather Threatens IPL 2026 Final Between RCB and Gujarat TitansThe stage is set for a historic IPL 2026 final as Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans prepare to clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 31. Both franchises have won the IPL title only once, meaning the winner will take a significant step toward building a lasting legacy in the tournament. However, just hours before the much-anticipated showdown, weather concerns have emerged as a major talking point.

According to the local meteorological department, a yellow alert has been issued for parts of Ahmedabad. Strong winds, thunderstorms, and possible rainfall have been forecast for the day of the final, raising concerns about potential disruptions to the marquee encounter. The weather warning has created anxiety among players, fans, and experts who are eagerly awaiting the season's biggest match.

Fortunately, the IPL has a contingency plan in place. A reserve day has been scheduled for the final, meaning that if rain prevents the match from being completed on May 31, the contest will be shifted to June 1, 2026. This provides organizers with an additional opportunity to ensure the title is decided on the field rather than by circumstances beyond anyone's control.

RCB Could Win the Title Without a Final

However, if adverse weather affects both the scheduled day and the reserve day, an unusual scenario could unfold. In that case, Royal Challengers Bengaluru would be declared IPL 2026 champions without a ball being bowled in the final. The IPL playing conditions state that if no result is possible even after the reserve day, the team that finished higher in the league-stage standings will be crowned champions. RCB topped the points table, while Gujarat Titans finished second.

Weather conditions in Ahmedabad have been unpredictable in recent days. The city experienced a severe heatwave, with temperatures touching 43.1°C, prompting heatwave warnings across the region. Meteorologists have indicated that changing weather patterns could bring rainfall to Ahmedabad and surrounding areas on both May 31 and June 1, making the possibility of interruptions a genuine concern.

Regardless of the weather situation, Gujarat Titans will be desperate to settle matters on the field. Playing the final at their home venue gives them a significant advantage, and they will be eager to avenge their defeat against RCB in Qualifier 1. With Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan leading the batting unit and a bowling attack featuring Kagiso Rabada, Mohammed Siraj, Sai Kishore, and Rashid Khan, the Titans will look to challenge a confident and tactically strong RCB side in what promises to be a thrilling finale if weather permits.
