Ahmedabad Sees 300–400% Hotel Price Hike Ahead of India vs New Zealand T20 Final

Things are changing quickly in Ahmedabad because of the IND vs NZ T20 World Cup final in the city. Hotel room prices and flight fares have increased a lot. According to a PTI report, hotel room rates have gone up by 300–400%.

“There is a 300 per cent to 400 per cent increase in the room tariffs due to the high demand in view of the T20 WC final. Rooms which were available for Rs 5,000 to Rs 20,000 now have rates between Rs 15,000 and Rs 50,000,” Narendra Somani, president of the Hotels and Restaurants Association of Gujarat said.

In fact, Ahmedabad has roughly 10,000 rooms, which are expected to be sold not; are not sold out as yet. “We expect that all the hotels in and around the city will see nearly 80 per cent occupancy on Sunday due to the match,” he said.

For the same reason, many fans are choosing to stay in Gandhinagar and then travel to the stadium for the match.

“What many people do, especially people from Bombay, is they leave in the morning by road. They arrive here by four or five o’clock and go straight to the match. They bring a driver and leave at night,” the source added.

Ticket prices have also increased a lot. Flights from Mumbai to Ahmedabad, which usually cost ₹3,000–₹4,000, are now around ₹15,000–₹17,000. Flights from Delhi to Ahmedabad are about ₹14,000, while Bengaluru to Ahmedabad tickets are around ₹13,000.

Just to cater to the fans travelling to Ahmedabad, Northern Railways has announced a special train (04062) to fetch the passengers from Delhi. The same is available for booking on the IRCTC website and app.
